Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor star in ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari,’ a romantic comedy that revives the genre’s appeal. The film also features Rohit Saraf and Sanya Malhotra in leading roles, focusing on the protagonists’ quest to win back their exes. The movie opened in theaters alongside ‘Kantara: Chapter 1,’ which has presented significant competition.
‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ had a modest start at the box office, earning approximately Rs 9.25 crore on its opening day. Collections dipped on the second day, reaching around Rs 5.5 crore, indicating a decrease of nearly 40.5%. However, the film rebounded on its third day, with early estimates suggesting earnings of Rs 7.25 crore. In total, the movie has grossed roughly Rs 22 crore in its initial three days.
Simultaneously, the film is facing strong competition from other South Indian releases, with Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara Chapter 1,’ the highly anticipated prequel to the 2022 hit, leading the charts. Early estimates indicate that ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ earned around Rs 55 crore on its third day, bringing its three-day total to approximately Rs 162.85 crore, thus establishing the prequel as a significant success.
The movie is directed by Shashank Khaitan, produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta and Shashank Khaitan under Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment. The cast also includes Rohit Saraf and Sanya Malhotra. This marks the second collaboration between Varun and Janhvi.
