‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ (SSKTK) has been released in theaters. Initially, the name suggested it would be another typical, clichéd story wrapped in a new package from Karan Johar’s ‘Dharma Productions.’ However, the film, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, sets a complete festive mood, featuring colors, noise, laughter, and heartwarming moments.
This film is not just a timepass like Akshay Kumar’s ‘Housefull’, meant to be watched with your brain switched off for a couple of hours. Instead, it makes you laugh so hard you hold your stomach, and some scenes even bring tears to your eyes. Ultimately, you leave the theater with a sweet smile. This film by Varun and Janhvi is a great blend of drama and comedy. But how was this blend made? What flavor of love was added? To find out, be sure to read the full review.
‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ begins with Sunny (Varun Dhawan). Although he comes from a very conservative family, he is quite the romantic at heart. Sunny falls deeply in love with his childhood friend, Ananya (Sanya Malhotra). Sunny expresses his feelings to Ananya, but then comes the twist in the story. Ananya decides to marry Vikram (Rohit Saraf), who is the choice of her parents. Vikram is a straightforward, rich, and “right choice” kind of guy.
Ananya’s decision breaks Sunny’s heart. But, he refuses to give up. With his heart broken, his mind starts working even harder. He finds Tulsi (Janhvi Kapoor), who coincidentally is Vikram’s old girlfriend (ex-girlfriend), and Tulsi still has a little fire for Vikram in her heart. They both make a plan to achieve their love. Will Sunny be able to get his true love? Or will fate lead him on another path? To find the answer to this question, you will have to watch the movie in the theater. But it can be said that this roller-coaster ride of Sunny and Tulsi will not let you get bored for a moment.
‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ is a package that includes romance, comedy, and drama. This is why this film can make viewers of all ages happy. The screenplay of the film is its greatest strength. Most of the time, the story moves forward at such a fast pace that you don’t even get a chance to blink.
The most important thing about the film is that it has humor, but it’s not vulgar or cheap. The comedy in the film is completely family-friendly. The first half of the film is excellent, with Varun Dhawan’s comic timing being amazing. Yes, in the second half, the story becomes a bit predictable. But the pre-climax and climax of the film remove all our complaints.
‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ does not just have light comedy. It talks about many subjects like the complexities of modern relationships, family values, and women’s freedom without being boring. And yes, there is a lot of nostalgia for Bollywood lovers. The film gives many fun references from ‘Baahubali’ to ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ and from Shahrukh Khan to Salman Khan.
Director Shashank Khaitan has once again proved that he knows the secret formula to making hit family entertainers. His treatment makes the film visually appealing. The funny dialogues of the film keep us glued to our seats. Shashank has done a good thing by keeping his film clean. Even in jokes, vulgarity has not been used anywhere. His vision is clear, to make the audience laugh, cry and, in the end, send them home satisfied. Manush Nandan’s cinematography is amazing, the editing is also very crisp, which does not let the speed of the film slow down anywhere.
Varun Dhawan, as Sunny Sanskari, is back in his old form with this film! His energy is tremendous. His comic timing is also perfect. On one hand, his one-liners will make you laugh a lot, while on the other hand, his emotional scenes will make you emotional, and as always, he gets full marks in mass appeal.
Through ‘Tulsi Kumari’, Janhvi has got the most fun character of her career. She presents the transformation from a naive girl to a glamorous diva with great confidence on screen. Her presence on screen is very natural.
Rohit Saraf has beautifully played the character of the calm and sensible Vikram. His understated performance brings balance to the film. Sanya Malhotra has also done justice to her character. As always, Manish Paul (wedding planner) makes you laugh out loud. His comic timing as an over-the-top wedding planner is ‘super se bhi upar’ (beyond excellent).
Overall, ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ is a festive blast! If you are planning to watch a feel-good film with your family, then book your tickets immediately. Watch this film for Varun and Janhvi’s amazing chemistry and Manish Paul’s tremendous comedy, because this is a full paisa vasool (value for money) film!
