The highly-anticipated crossover film, ‘Tiger vs. Pathaan,’ featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, has reportedly encountered a pause in production. However, sources indicate that the project hasn’t been completely abandoned. Despite earlier statements from Salman Khan suggesting the film might not be happening for now, recent reports suggest that Yash Raj Films (YRF) is focusing on a creative revamp rather than outright cancellation.
According to reports, YRF head Aditya Chopra is re-evaluating the studio’s spy universe, citing concerns about potential repetition. The goal is to inject fresh storytelling and presentation into the franchise. This involves re-assessing the roadmap and making significant alterations to future plans. The focus isn’t on shelving existing projects but ensuring upcoming films like ‘Tiger vs. Pathaan’ adopt a new creative direction, avoiding formula fatigue through innovation. While official confirmation is still pending from YRF.
The YRF Spy Universe began with Salman Khan’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ (2012) and expanded with ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ (2017), ‘War’ (2019), and ‘Pathaan’ (2023), which marked Shah Rukh Khan’s entry. The universe includes ‘Tiger 3’, ‘War 2’, and the upcoming ‘Alpha’, featuring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh.
In the meantime, Salman Khan’s latest film was ‘Sikandar’, while Shah Rukh Khan is set to appear in ‘King’.
