Director Umesh Shukla has addressed long-standing rumors surrounding the similarities between his film ‘OMG: Oh My God!’ and Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’. Shukla clarified that the shared themes were a result of parallel thinking, not plagiarism. He explicitly denied the speculation that he was bribed to shelve ‘OMG’ and stated that there was no truth to the rumors. Shukla emphasized that ‘OMG’ was based on a play he had written before the release of the film and the team of ‘PK’ had seen it. He highlighted the commonality of similar themes in cinema, pointing out that both films explored religion and faith. He stated that the idea behind the two films might have been similar, but it was not a case of one copying the other. Shukla also mentioned that the individuals involved, including Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, and Aamir Khan, are too talented and dignified to resort to such tactics. Both films, ‘OMG’ starring Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar, and ‘PK’, made significant impacts with their distinctive storytelling approaches.
