Vidya Malvade Says Negative Comments Reflect the Writer

Mumbai, November 1: Actor Vidya Malvade, who stars in the cybercrime thriller 'Scam 2024 - The Digital Arrest Story', has spoken out about the trolling celebrities endure on social media, with actresses often facing criticism about their looks.

In a conversation with IANS, Vidya said that what people write about others tells us more about the writer's thinking than about the person being written about.

She was asked about the frequent trolling of actresses over their appearance, personal decisions, and post-pregnancy weight. The question also raised concerns about a culture in which people comment freely on someone else's life and body.

Vidya responded that there are two sides to the issue. She explained that any comment about her reveals the commenter's point of view. "What they write about me is their problem, not mine," she said. "If someone writes something kind, it comes from their own positive feelings. I think the words of people show what is inside their minds. I try not to let others' opinions define me."

Vidya also recalled a statement by actor Richa Chadha, who said that a person should not allow what others write from behind a screen to affect them. Vidya agreed, adding, "In the end, it is their opinion. Just imagine how much negativity a person must hold to write such things. I believe one should stay away from people like that."

Vidya has made her micro-drama debut with this series. The thriller also features Sandeep Arora, Priyanshi Tripathi, Pooja Jha, Ayushi Tyagi, Sheetal Tejwani, Ashok K. Jha and Yogesh Pawar. It is currently streaming on the TV app.
