Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across India. This day is not only special for his supporters but also for those whose lives are connected to him. It is often observed that when an individual holds a prominent position, their look-alikes also gain considerable popularity.
This is the story of Vikas Mahante, a Mumbai-based businessman whose life transformed due to his striking resemblance to PM Modi.
Vikas Mahante, a resident of Malad, Mumbai, was an ordinary man. His life revolved around managing his steel packaging business and returning home in the evening. However, one day, he made a simple change to his appearance. He grew a beard, which altered his look to some extent. Initially, he didn’t realize that this new look would become his new identity.
When Vikas went out, people would often stop, smile at him, and request selfies, mistaking him for PM Modi. His face, beard, attire, and even his mannerisms were so similar to PM Modi that he often had to clarify that he was not the real PM.
The biggest turning point in Vikas Mahante’s life came during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. His popularity had grown so much that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) invited him to campaign in Maharashtra and Amritsar. There was such a frenzy to see him that his rallies drew massive crowds. He addressed the crowds as a look-alike of PM Modi, winning their hearts. During this time, he also impressed people with his way of speaking.
This unique identity of Vikas not only kept him limited to politics but also opened doors for him in the world of Bollywood. He played a small role in Farha Khan’s film ‘Happy New Year,’ where he portrayed a PM Modi look-alike. Following this, he worked in films like ‘Mission Mangal,’ but his most special project was the 2017 film ‘Modi Ka Gaon,’ in which he played the Prime Minister himself. This film showcased the policies and development work of the Modi government, making it a big opportunity for him.
During a special conversation with TV9 Hindi Digital during the promotion of his film 695, Vikas Mahante shared that he first met PM Modi in Gujarat in 2014. At that time, Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Upon seeing Vikas, he couldn’t stop laughing. He looked at Vikas from head to toe and then smiled and asked, “There are Lok Sabha elections, have you planned any promotion?” This meeting became a memorable moment for Vikas. Although he couldn’t meet him again after he became PM, he still gets emotional remembering that meeting. Today, Vikas Mahante is not just a businessman or a look-alike but is also known as an artist and a social worker. Apart from acting, he often participates in various events held in the country and abroad as a look-alike of PM Modi and conveys his positive message to people.
