There is a doubt about the gunny supply from the first day of purchase of paddy at the support price. The effect of the central government cutting the new gunny quota still remains. Fair price shopkeepers have also not returned the old gunny bags to Markfed and Food Department. Due to all these reasons, gunny bags are not able to reach the procurement centers in sufficient quantity.
This has started to affect the purchase. There is a chaos in 128 procurement centers in the district. Due to shortage of gunny bags, the committee in-charge is reluctant to issue tokens to the farmers. They fear that the gunny bags were not received in time and the token holders reached the procurement center with paddy in a tractor, truck or metodor to sell the paddy. Considering the status of the dispute, the committee is issuing tokens to the farmers as per the availability of Bardana in-charge.
Prior to the commencement of paddy purchase at the support price, the state government issued an order to the Food Department to withdraw the gunny bags supplied by the Civil Supplies Corporation to the fair price shops from April to October during the Corona transition period Was. In lieu of this, there was also talk of paying ration shopkeepers at the rate of 14 rupees per gunny. Following the directives of the government, the food department had issued a notice to the ration shopkeepers of the district asking them to calculate and return the old gunny bags. Till now the ration holders have not returned. Actually, during the Corona transition, the shopkeepers have sold the empty gunny bags in the market.
