CRPF Soldier Dies as Dengue Cases Surge Among Parade Participants

During preparations for the national Unity Day parade at Gujarat’s Statue of Unity, a cluster of dengue infections emerged among the security forces deployed for the event. Health authorities disclosed that 87 soldiers have been admitted to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital in the past ten days.

Fifty of those have recovered and been discharged, leaving 37 under observation for dengue fever. The cohort includes members of the Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force and Indo‑Tibetan Border Police.

One CRPF constable experienced a sudden sharp chest pain, was rushed for an ECG, and was shifted to the ICU. The soldier later passed away, with early speculation pointing to a cardiac arrest. A definitive cause will be established after the post‑mortem examination.

Minister of Health Prabhull Pancheria toured the hospital, met the affected troops, and reviewed the treatment plan with senior medical staff. He confirmed that the remaining patients are stable and showing signs of improvement.

The government has issued directives for ample water, nutrient‑rich meals, fresh fruits, juices and salads for all personnel. It is also ensuring adequate blood and platelet supplies.

To curb further spread, authorities are conducting twice‑daily fogging, pesticide spraying, and maintaining a 24‑hour hygiene surveillance team around the barracks and training grounds.
