Family Accused of Vandalism Demands Safety Assurance, Staff Walk Out in Burdwan

Buddhan Bauri, a resident of Manakar, fell ill on Saturday and was admitted to the rural hospital. After initial treatment, doctors suggested he could be discharged as his condition seemed to improve. However, his health deteriorated on the way home, leading to his death. Angered relatives stormed the emergency department, damaged equipment and assaulted nursing and health‑care staff. Police from Budbud police station arrived, contained the chaos and recovered the body for a post‑mortem. In response, the medical workforce launched a strike, positioning themselves outside the main gate and demanding a formal safety pledge from authorities before resuming duties.
