Government Push Expands Access to Affordable Drugs in 776 Districts

The scheme now covers 776 of the country's 784 districts, delivering a basket of 2,110 medicines and 315 surgical supplies. Apart from lab reagents and vaccines, almost all generic drugs listed in the National Essential Medicines List are included. Continuous monitoring by the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) helps keep stocks steady and prices low.
