Health officials warn of worsening measles crisis in Bangladesh amid rising cases

Bangladesh's health ministry warns that the measles crisis is deepening as case numbers climb. Three more children died by Monday morning, raising the cumulative death count to 741. The Directorate General of Health Services has placed these incidents in the suspected category. To date, 648 children have lost their lives to measles‑like illnesses, with 93 cases confirmed by laboratory testing. Over the last day, 947 new suspected cases were added, bringing the total suspected tally to 106,565, while lab‑verified cases have reached 12,791. Since March 15, hospitals have admitted 89,734 patients, of whom 86,062 have recovered. The surge challenges the country's health infrastructure, prompting a call for faster case tracking and expanded immunisation efforts.
