New Measures Aim to Reduce Referrals, Ensure Equipment and Staff in Bihar's Public Hospitals

Nishant Kumar highlighted that the state wants most treatments to be completed at district hospitals, limiting the need for referrals to Patna. He noted persistent complaints about the shortage of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff. The administration will enforce stricter duty schedules for physicians and deploy additional personnel where gaps are identified. Hospitals are instructed to report any shortage of medicines, malfunctioning MRI, CT‑scan or ultrasound machines, or lack of technicians immediately to the health department, ensuring rapid remedial action.
