Opposition Leaders Decry Police Action on Jantar‑Mantar Fasting Protester

Political figures from the opposition have condemned the police’s decision to remove Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar while she was engaged in a non‑violent hunger strike. Rahul Gandhi posted on social media that the central government’s policies are based on falsehood and violence, calling the removal of the protester “wrong”. Leaders including Pawan Khera, Mamata Banerjee, Sharad Pawar and Sanjay Rout also denounced the police action, urging respect for the democratic right to protest over issues such as the alleged NEET paper leak, rising education costs and student suicides.
