Tech‑aided paper leak thwarted at Baba Farid University, minister says

In a session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains revealed that the recent cheating attempt at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences was not a conventional paper leak. Instead, the culprits from a neighbouring state used altered mobile devices, concealed wireless earphones and other advanced tools to transmit answers during the pharmacy examination.

The Punjab police intervened, seized the equipment and arrested the offenders, labeling the incident as a “well‑organised cheating ring” that had been operating for years, compromising the future of thousands of students.

Bains also highlighted Punjab’s rise to the top of the National Institute of Education’s 2026 school‑quality ranking, surpassing Kerala, and announced the state’s pioneering move to introduce artificial intelligence as a core subject from class 1 to 12.
