Uttarakhand Minister’s Health Crisis Follows FIR Against Spouse

Dehradun – Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya was admitted to KMC Hospital on the afternoon of 15 October after her condition worsened abruptly. The minister’s health emergency unfolded on the same day she lodged a serious FIR against her husband, Giradhari Lal Sahu, at Cant police station.

Arya’s viral video showed her in tears, detailing grievances that include her spouse’s hidden prior marriage, undisclosed children, and extramarital liaisons. She further accused him of assaulting her, issuing death threats, and using caste‑related slurs before government officials.

Additional claims involve forged documents that falsely presented her resignation from a directorial role in a private firm, a move she says never occurred. The minister also highlighted an audio recording where her husband allegedly plotted to murder her, intensifying fears for her personal safety and that of her children.

Police have registered the complaint under relevant Indian Penal Code provisions and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and investigations are underway. Following the FIR, Arya urged women across the state to stand against domestic violence and report any abuse rather than endure it in silence.
