A stampede at a rally held by actor and politician Vijay’s TVK party in Karur, Tamil Nadu, resulted in the tragic deaths of 39 people. The victims included 16 women and 10 children. Numerous others were injured and admitted to various hospitals for treatment. Several factors contributed to the stampede. The crowd size far exceeded initial estimates, and Vijay himself arrived at the rally significantly behind schedule. The prolonged wait in scorching heat led to some people collapsing from exhaustion, triggering panic and the subsequent stampede.
