In Chikmagalur, Karnataka, a 56-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly murdering her husband with the help of her 33-year-old lover. Two other individuals who aided the accused during the investigation have also been apprehended. The arrested individuals are identified as Meenakshamma, her lover Pradeep, and his friends Siddesh and Vishwas, all residents of Kadur.
The deceased has been identified as Subramanya, 60, who worked as a tailor. According to authorities, Meenakshamma was presented in court and remanded to judicial custody on Monday. The police reported that on June 2, Meenakshamma filed a complaint at the Kadur police station, stating that her husband, Subramanya, had gone out on May 31 and did not return. The police registered a case.
Following this, the police tracked Subramanya’s mobile phone location. On June 3, the railway police informed the Kadur police that a half-burned leg had been found on the tracks. Later, the police recovered the remaining parts of the body at the scene. During the investigation of CCTV footage, Subramanya, the tailor, was seen in a car with Pradeep, Siddesh, and Vishwas near his shop on May 31.
A police officer involved in the investigation stated that they took the three individuals into custody. After questioning, they confessed to the crime. On June 8, they were presented in court and arrested. They are currently in judicial custody. The investigation revealed that Pradeep and Meenakshamma had a relationship, but there was no concrete evidence to confirm it.
According to the police officer, Meenakshamma was seen weeping profusely upon hearing the news of her husband’s death. Initially, suspicion did not fall on her, but when Pradeep and his friends were questioned, her involvement in the case came to light. However, they did not have any evidence to arrest her besides Pradeep’s statement. She was questioned multiple times, but at that time, she denied her role in the murder.
According to the call detail records (CDR) of Meenakshamma and Pradeep, they had not made any phone calls in the past six months. However, the police noticed that Meenakshamma was repeatedly calling and messaging a certain number. It was later discovered that the number was registered under the name of Pradeep’s mother. Technical investigation revealed that Pradeep was using the SIM card. This resolved the mystery.
On May 31, Pradeep and the other accused planned the murder of Subramanya. The accused went to Subramanya’s shop, and they took him in a car. Then, they all drank alcohol together in a secluded area near Sakrepatna. After getting drunk, Pradeep slit Subramanya’s throat. Later, the accused attempted to burn the body, but it did not burn completely. They left the body there and fled.
Investigation officials stated that Meenakshamma contacted the police only after the confirmation of her husband’s death. Meenakshamma and Subramanya have two daughters who are married. Meenakshamma and Subramanya also have grandchildren. Meenakshamma met Pradeep four years ago. Pradeep was also a tailor. They became close friends. Then they fell in love.
When Subramanya found out about this, he opposed their relationship, so Meenakshamma, with the help of her lover, had her husband murdered so that he would not interfere in her relationship with Pradeep.
