Bihar's Saran district witnessed a major police intervention as teams stormed orchestra setups in Taraiya, Kopa, and Isuapur areas, liberating nine underage girls subjected to brutal exploitation. Originating from West Bengal (eight girls) and Uttar Pradesh (one), these victims had been trafficked and coerced into performing under duress. Prompted by higher authorities including the ADGP for vulnerable groups and NHRC guidelines, SSP Saran assembled a dedicated squad. Key members comprised AHTU head Vishal Anand, SHO Neha Kumari of the women's cell, Virendra Kumar Singh from Mission Mukti Foundation, and Akshay Pandey of Delhi's Rescue Foundation. The meticulously planned encirclement and raids uncovered the horrific conditions, leading to the immediate rescue of the minors. Authorities apprehended two key perpetrators—local resident Kaleem Sai from Taraiya and Mangal Parwanik from West Bengal's 24 Parganas—charging them with child trafficking and sexual exploitation. One FIR has been filed, adding to the tally of 51 cases since May 2023, where 375 girls have been saved and 125 arrests made. The 'Awaaz Do' initiative by Saran police actively seeks public cooperation, providing a helpline for reporting women and girls facing abuse or trafficking threats. This operation underscores the relentless efforts to dismantle trafficking networks exploiting vulnerable youth in the entertainment shadows, fostering a safer environment through community vigilance.
