A new four-lane expressway is set to dramatically improve travel between Agra and Aligarh. The project, part of the Bharat Mala initiative, will reduce the journey time to just one hour upon completion. The Agra-Aligarh Greenfield Expressway will also provide an alternative route for residents of Aligarh and Hathras. Spanning 65 kilometers, the expressway has a budget of Rs 1536.9 crore and construction is anticipated to conclude soon. The first 28-kilometer segment will connect National Highway 509 in Aligarh to Asroi village, near Hathras, and will also connect to the Bareilly-Mathura Highway and the Agra-Noida Yamuna Expressway.
