A prominent Ahmedabad businessman, Rakesh Lahoti, has filed a comprehensive First Information Report (FIR) against builder Kamlesh Gondalia and his associates, alleging a significant multi-crore property scam. The complaint, submitted to the DCP Crime Office in Gaikwad Haveli, details serious accusations including the use of forged documents, fraudulent property resales, financial misrepresentation, and criminal breach of trust. Lahoti’s complaint outlines a pattern of deception spanning from 2019 to 2025, where his companies, Clearsky Tradelink LLP and Rakesh Investment Co., entered into agreements to purchase several high-value properties. These included multiple flats in the Takshashila Elegna project, land parcels in Kheda, a bungalow in Ambli, and apartments in Treasure Enclave, Bopal. Despite fulfilling 100% of the payment obligations for these assets, Lahoti claims he never received possession or executed ownership titles. Investigations, he states, revealed that these properties were falsely marked as ‘unbooked’ on the RERA portal, while the Gondalia group allegedly conducted internal transfers and new sales to mortgage or sell the same properties to other unsuspecting buyers and lenders. In an alleged attempt to conceal the fraud, Gondalia reportedly transferred Rs 3 crore to Lahoti’s account in June 2025, mischaracterizing it as a loan repayment. When confronted, Lahoti asserts that Gondalia issued threats and filed counter-complaints to intimidate him. The FIR cites multiple violations under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, including sections related to cheating, forgery, and organized financial crime. Lahoti has provided extensive documentary evidence to the authorities and is urging for a full-scale investigation into Gondalia’s alleged fraudulent network, emphasizing the need to protect public trust in the real estate sector.
