Following the recent plane crash in Ahmedabad (AI-171), the Gujarat state government, under the direction of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, has initiated comprehensive rescue and support operations. District authorities are actively contacting the families of victims and have established a network of Nodal Officers to facilitate insurance and compensation claims. Dedicated help desks have been set up at the Civil Hospital, managed by New India Assurance, HDFC Life Insurance, and LIC, to expedite the claims process and offer guidance. DNA sampling is underway, with 62 matches confirmed, and mortal remains are being returned to families, supported by police escorts and assistance with funeral arrangements. The state government is coordinating with other states for out-of-state relatives, and Air India is providing free air travel for family members. Additionally, transportation and accommodation are arranged for the families.
