A single individual, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, survived the Air India plane crash that occurred on Thursday. Ramesh sustained multiple injuries to his chest, eyes, and feet. He recounted that approximately 30 seconds after takeoff, a loud noise was heard, and the aircraft crashed. He had recently traveled to India to visit his family and was en route back to the UK with his brother, Ajay Kumar Ramesh, when the disaster happened. He reported seeing bodies and plane debris all around him, and was helped to an ambulance before being taken to the hospital. Ramesh has resided in London for two decades with his family. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 people, including 12 crew members, crashed soon after departing from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday afternoon. The aircraft impacted the doctors’ hostel near the airport perimeter. The flight, under the command of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, had 230 passengers on board, comprising 169 Indians, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian citizen. The aircraft, after departing from Runway 23 at 1339 IST, issued a Mayday call but did not respond to subsequent ATC communications. Heavy black smoke was observed rising from the crash site.
