AI Mission Funding and Green Initiatives Highlighted at Van Mahotsav Opening

The inauguration of Van Mahotsav 2026 in Raipur on 5 August provided a platform for Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sahu to announce major investments in both environmental and digital fronts. While overseeing the planting of peepal trees under the "People for People" scheme, the CM spotlighted the state's newly approved Artificial Intelligence Mission.

A budgetary allocation of Rs 500 crore will support the AI Mission over the next five years, with the promise that artificial intelligence will be embedded in all government departments to accelerate service delivery, boost transparency, and aid in tackling environmental challenges.

The CM also reiterated the success of the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign, noting that over 7 crore trees have been planted across Chhattisgarh in the preceding two years. He framed the peepal saplings planted during the ceremony as the first step toward creating a dedicated Peepal City, an urban zone designed around green infrastructure.

Addressing teacher protests from Swami Atmanand schools, the chief minister assured that the education ministry would engage with the educators to resolve pending issues promptly.

By coupling large‑scale tree‑planting with a robust AI rollout, the administration aims to enhance both ecological health and administrative efficiency, positioning the state as a model for integrated sustainable development.
