AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel organized a ‘biryani party’ at his residence to protest against the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation’s decision to ban meat sales during upcoming festivals. The ban, implemented on August 15 and 20, coincided with Independence Day, Gokul Ashtami, and Paryushan Parv. Jaleel criticized the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for not intervening in the matter. He stated that the government should not dictate dietary choices, emphasizing the importance of individual freedoms. The party included both chicken biryani and a vegetarian dish, demonstrating his commitment to inclusivity. Earlier, AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi also voiced opposition to similar directives, condemning the meat ban as a violation of fundamental rights, including liberty, privacy, and cultural practices.
