AK Sharma Defends UP Grid Amid Opposition Attacks

Energy Minister A.K. Sharma has taken to X to counter what he calls deliberate attempts to tarnish Uttar Pradesh’s power sector reputation. Citing Saturday’s peak demand of 30,395 MW, Sharma argued that complaints about brief outages ignore the dramatic improvement in supply hours across the state. He listed the scale of electrification: 75 districts, 58,000 gram panchayats, three lakh villages and 762 urban bodies all receiving near-round-the-clock power. While conceding that technical snags hit a few pockets, Sharma said teams fixed those issues promptly and are now acting on feedback from legislators. The minister framed the situation as a success story tested by record summer demand. He asked citizens to distinguish between isolated faults and systemic failure, warning that negative narratives hurt both the workforce and public morale during an already challenging season.
