In a detailed clarification, Uttar Pradesh’s Energy Minister A.K. Sharma told IANS that reports suggesting PAC deployment at power substations are baseless. The minister stressed that the department’s singular focus is public service and that the state is not facing any situation warranting additional security forces at substations. Sharma contrasted the current power scenario with the previous Samajwadi Party government, noting that villages and geography remain unchanged yet consumer connections have risen sharply from 1.8 crore to 3.7 crore. Peak demand has more than doubled, reaching above 30,000 MW. While acknowledging seasonal challenges, he highlighted professional load management that prevents the weeks-long outages common nine years ago. Sharma urged power employees to avoid lapses that could tarnish the government’s image, cautioning that stern action awaits anyone found negligent. He reiterated his commitment to citizens, promising uninterrupted work toward better electricity access across Uttar Pradesh.
