In Amravati, Maharashtra, a Mahavitaran sub-station was set ablaze by two youths on June 15th around 11:30 am. The act of arson was triggered by persistent electricity supply issues in their area. The individuals entered the Walgaon sub-station armed with petrol, which they used to ignite tables and chairs. Witnesses report the youths confronted an assistant engineer, expressing frustration over prolonged power cuts and accusing staff of inaction. The entire incident was captured on video, indicating a pre-planned attack. The fire caused significant damage, destroying documents, computers, and essential files. The disruption to the sub-station affected the power supply to more than six villages. Local residents have reported experiencing extended daily power outages for several weeks and expressed anger at the lack of a solution. Police have filed a case against the accused, charging them with attacking a government employee, arson, and damage to government property. The suspects are currently at large, and the police have deployed teams to apprehend them. While residents have criticized the violent act, they have also demanded the administration take strict action against the perpetrators.
