The scheme, which spanned the fiscal year 2024‑2025, involved the presentation of falsified land documents by a group led by Brahm Swaroop Bharadwaj, a known property dealer.

The victim, a former pharmacist who retired from Tihar Jail, was convinced to part with his life‑time savings under the promise of a legitimate plot. After the fraud was reported, a FIR was filed at the Ranhola police station, and the suspect vanished.
