A 40-year-old army officer, Harshpal Mahadev Waghmare, was involved in an incident in Nagpur, Maharashtra, where he allegedly drove his car into a crowd, resulting in injuries to approximately 25 to 30 individuals. The officer, who was on a four-day leave from Assam, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. The event occurred on Sunday evening around 8:30 pm near Durga Chowk in the Nagardhan area. Waghmare lost control of his vehicle while driving at high speed, causing the car to strike several pedestrians. The vehicle then overturned and ended up in a roadside drain. Following the crash, local residents reacted by pulling Waghmare from the car and physically assaulting him. Police arrived at the scene, detained the officer, and transported him to a hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have stated that a medical test will be conducted to confirm alcohol consumption.
