Authorities Warn of Legal Action for Unauthorized Gatherings at Kanot Place
Delhi Police have issued a firm warning that any attempt to hold a protest or rally in Central Park, Kanot Place on 16 October will be treated as a violation of the Section 163 ban and will attract appropriate legal consequences. Deputy Commissioner Neha Yadav explained that the prohibition is already active to ensure safety, preserve order, and protect businesses operating nearby. The NDMC has formally notified the police that the park will remain closed for two days, citing administrative concerns. While political leaders from the BJP and AAP have called for a peaceful flag‑carrying demonstration, police officials stressed that only a small, permitted group may be allowed to gather at a designated area to display the national flag and sing the anthem. Anyone found breaching the ban will face prosecution.
