Ayushman Bharat Provides ₹5 Lakh Annual Cover to Over 60 Crore Beneficiaries

The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana now extends an annual cashless health cover of up to ₹ 5 lakh to more than 60 crore beneficiaries across all Indian states and union territories. According to official statistics, the scheme has enrolled 48.51 crore citizens and funded 13.25 crore medical claims with a total outlay of ₹ 2.03 lakh crore. The programme’s network, which includes 38,000 public and private hospitals, offers cashless services for 1,961 procedures across 27 medical specialties, protecting families from heavy medical expenses. Recent expansion in March 2024 added approximately 3.7 million families of ASHA and Anganwadi workers, pushing the number of Ayushman cards issued to these frontline workers beyond 4.48 million.
