Following recent unrest in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, the district administration took action by demolishing several structures deemed illegal. Among these was Raja Palace, a marriage hall owned by Dr. Nafees Ahmed, who has been implicated in the violence. The clashes erupted on September 26th after Friday prayers, stemming from a cancelled protest related to “I Love Muhammad” posters, resulting in injuries. On Saturday morning, the Bareilly Development Authority demolished Raja Palace in the Jakhira area, with a heavy police presence. Officials cited violations of building regulations as the reason for the demolition. In addition to Raja Palace, authorities sealed a house in Faik Enclave owned by Farhat, where Maulana Tauqeer Raza was reportedly hiding during the incidents. The demolition has drawn criticism from opposition leaders who claim the required 15-day notice was not provided.
