An FIR filed in connection with the violence that erupted in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, on September 26th, following Friday prayers, has made serious accusations against Maulana Tauqeer Raza. According to the FIR copy, Tauqeer Raza, the head of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC), has been identified as the main accused. The FIR alleges that Tauqeer incited protestors by stating, ‘Today, we must disrupt the city’s atmosphere, even if it means killing police officers, and we must demonstrate the strength of Muslims.’
