The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court in Bengaluru has delivered a seven-year prison sentence to three individuals implicated in the August 11, 2020, attack on the DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations. The accused, Syed Ikramuddin (also known as Syed Naveed), Syed Atif, and Mohammed Atif, received the sentence along with a fine of ₹36,000 each after they pleaded guilty. These individuals were among the 199 accused in the case, with 187 arrests made. The trial for the remaining defendants is still pending. The incident involved the destruction of twelve vehicles, including an Innova car and several two-wheelers. The violence began when a group of approximately 25-30 people gathered outside the KG Halli police station, demanding the arrest of Naveen, a relative of then-MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy, for a derogatory social media post. The protest was led by Syed Ikramuddin, escalating into a riot after police imposed prohibitory orders.
