Bhagavad Gita verse highlighted as guide to pure speech

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used his X post to draw attention to Bhagavad Gita chapter 17, verse 15, describing the concept of "Vangmaya Tap" – the austerity of speech. He emphasized that words should never provoke fear or mental turmoil, should be truthful, pleasant, and beneficial.

The verse also calls for regular study and practice of the Vedas and other scriptures as essential to maintaining pure speech. According to Modi, this disciplined approach to language is a powerful tool for fostering harmony and positivity in the community.

The Prime Minister concluded that the energy of our tongue is immense; it can either wound or heal. By speaking with humility, love, and truth, and by staying connected to knowledge, individuals perform the highest form of verbal austerity.
