Following Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s announcement of the State Sanitation Workers Commission, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has emphasized the urgent need to provide sanitation workers with essential equipment and ensure they receive timely salaries. Yadav, speaking to the media on Sunday, stated that these workers often lack proper equipment and face delays in receiving their pay. He stressed the importance of addressing these fundamental needs first. Chief Minister Kumar had previously announced the formation of the Commission on his X handle, outlining its purpose to protect, support, rehabilitate, and address grievances for sanitation workers. The Commission will consist of a chairperson, a vice-chairperson, and five members, including one woman or transgender representative. This initiative aims to integrate sanitation workers into the mainstream and foster their social and economic development. The upcoming Bihar Assembly elections in 2025 have prompted several significant announcements from CM Kumar, including plans for free electricity, job creation, and increased pensions for journalists.
