The Bihar government has announced a significant initiative aimed at empowering women. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has approved the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, providing financial assistance to women in the state. Under this scheme, one woman from each family in Bihar will receive ₹10,000 to start her preferred employment. The goal is to make women self-reliant and create more job opportunities. The Chief Minister shared this information via social media, emphasizing the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment since November 2005. The scheme aims to provide financial support to women to initiate their chosen employment. Further details will be determined by the Rural Development Department, with support from the Urban Development and Housing Department. The funds are expected to be directly transferred to women’s bank accounts starting September 2025. After six months of employment, an assessment will be conducted, and additional funds up to ₹2 lakh may be provided if needed. Furthermore, ‘Haat bazaars’ will be developed across the state to facilitate the sale of women’s products, from villages to cities.
