Bihar Increases Compensation for Minister‑Level Statutory Heads, Approves Drone Purchase

A cabinet meeting in Patna on September 23 authorized a comprehensive revision of salary structures and allowances for leaders of commissions, boards, corporations and councils that are classified at the minister, state‑minister or deputy‑minister level. The monthly salary ceiling will rise from ₹25,000 to ₹65,000, while the per‑day allowance will go up from ₹1,000 to ₹3,500. Hospitality benefits will also see a step‑up: ₹30,000 for minister‑rank, ₹29,500 for state‑minister rank and ₹29,000 for deputy‑minister rank.

The announcement was made by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, who emphasized the need to align remuneration with the duties performed by these senior officials. The move is expected to provide a tangible financial boost to the officials who manage key public sector entities.

The same session also cleared a ₹24.50 crore budget for buying 50 drones under the central ASUMP scheme. The drones will be deployed for crowd control, anti‑insurgency missions, disaster management and overall enhancement of police surveillance.
