Only workers covered under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme are eligible. The employee must have regular ESI contributions and must have lost the job for reasons beyond personal control. Those who quit voluntarily, opt for Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS), or are involved in any criminal case are disqualified. The claimant must also be currently unemployed and must not have any other source of regular income during the benefit period.
