Authorities to Survey Affected Families After Massive Kosi Flood Damage

In response to the recent surge of erosion along the Kosi River, the Sub‑Divisional Officer of Supaul’s Satna block, Ravi Kumar, conducted a field visit on Tuesday. The visit followed a request from village leader Sumitra Devi and social worker Vidyabhushan Yadav to assess the scale of devastation.

Preliminary observations confirm that more than thirty‑five homes have been swept away in Ward 5’s Nayanagar Tol and Ward 7. The officials are now compiling a comprehensive list of displaced households, which will be submitted to the district disaster management cell for approval of relief funds.

The on‑ground assessment also recorded the dire conditions of affected families: many are sleeping under makeshift tarpaulins, lacking clean drinking water, and unable to send children to school. Livestock, a critical source of income for the agrarian community, remain vulnerable to waterborne diseases.

The district administration has assured the villagers that once the beneficiary list is finalized, emergency grants, temporary shelters, and food rations will be dispatched without delay. Meanwhile, community groups continue to appeal for faster relief delivery, citing the ongoing threat of further erosion.
