Bankipur By‑poll Scheduled for July 30, Results Due August 3
The Election Commission has fixed July 30 as the voting date for the Bankipur assembly by‑election in Bihar, with the counting of votes slated for August 3. The poll was necessitated after BJP leader Nitin Nabin resigned from the state assembly upon his election to the Rajya Sabha, vacating the seat he won in the 2025 legislative assembly elections.
All major parties have filed their nominations ahead of the July 13 deadline. The BJP’s candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha, Jan Suraj’s Prashant Kishor, RJD’s Rekha Kumari Gupta, and Jan Shakti Janata Dal’s Veena Manvi will battle for the constituency. A large turnout is expected, given the seat’s strategic importance as a BJP stronghold and a potential litmus test for the ruling NDA coalition ahead of the 2026 state elections.
Security arrangements, voter awareness drives, and logistical preparations are underway to ensure a smooth voting process across the urban and semi‑urban pockets of Bankipur.
