Bhagalpur’s NH‑80 Remains Closed as Floods Linger

The flood emergency in Bihar shows no sign of easing, with more than twelve districts under water and thousands displaced. Bhagalpur district is among the hardest hit. More than ninety panchayats, together with nearby urban neighborhoods, are battling rising water levels. A crucial segment of National Highway 80, close to Bhanvathpur in Nathnagar, has two feet of floodwater covering the pavement. This has forced a complete halt to vehicular movement for the last five days. In response, officials have bolstered the highway with temporary barricades and placed a magistrate on site to supervise 24‑hour monitoring and coordinate relief efforts.
