Political parties are strategizing for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Bhojpuri singer-actor-turned-politician Pawan Singh made a strategic move, meeting with Upendra Kushwaha, the leader of the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party, a key ally of the NDA. Following the meeting, Singh met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Speculation is rife within political circles that Singh might contest the Ara assembly seat. Last year, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expelled Pawan Singh for contesting the Karakat Lok Sabha seat against NDA candidate Upendra Kushwaha. Singh’s actions led to Kushwaha’s defeat, pushing him to third place in terms of votes. Singh has now attempted to mend fences with Kushwaha. Following the meeting, Bihar BJP in-charge Vinod Tawde stated that Pawan Singh was and would remain with the BJP, and he would campaign for the BJP and NDA in the upcoming Bihar elections. The BJP had initially nominated Pawan Singh to contest the Asansol seat in West Bengal for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, but he withdrew his candidacy. Allegations surfaced that Singh withdrew due to criticism over the use of derogatory language about Bengali women in his songs.
