Bihar’s 29 State‑Funded Exam Complexes to Host 4,000 Candidates Each

Bihar is set to transform its examination landscape with the approval of a ₹330.07 crore project that will see 29 high‑technology exam complexes erected in 27 districts. The four‑storey buildings, each sited on 1‑1.5 acres, will feature 24‑hour CCTV surveillance, fire‑safety systems and disaster‑management provisions.

Capacity is a key focus: every centre can seat approximately 4,000 candidates simultaneously. After the exams, answer sheets will be stored in fortified strong rooms, and the same facilities will enable barcode‑driven scanning, digital evaluation and secure archiving of sensitive documents. The strong rooms are also earmarked for storing election‑related material when needed.

By moving large‑scale competitive examinations—such as those conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission, Bihar Police Service Commission and other state agencies—out of school and college premises, the state hopes to minimise disruption to regular academic calendars. The new infrastructure will allow schools to continue regular classes and internal assessments without the logistical challenges of hosting external exams.

Nine districts already operate provisional exam hubs that serve as online testing centres, free coaching zones and regional BSEB offices. The upcoming permanent complexes will extend this model, providing a reliable, technology‑enabled backbone for Bihar’s examination system.
