Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister, Vijay Kumar Sinha, announced that the A grade awarded to the Agricultural University, Sabour by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is a significant achievement, not only for the university but for the entire state of Bihar. This milestone confirms Bihar’s strong position among the leading states in India in higher education, research, and innovation.
Sinha attributed the success to the dedication, hard work, and collective efforts of the university. The academic environment fostered through the collaboration of teachers, scientists, staff, students, and farmers has been the foundation of this prestigious recognition. The achievement underscores the positive impact of the Bihar government’s focus on education and agriculture, now visible on a national platform. It elevates the university among top institutions in the state and among the leading NAAC-accredited agricultural universities in the country.
The NAAC peer team conducted a thorough evaluation of the university from May 28 to May 30, assessing all aspects related to academics, administration, infrastructure, research, and extension. This accreditation symbolizes the university’s commitment to higher education, research, innovation, and national development. In just 15 years, the university has earned a 3.08 CGPA, establishing a strong presence nationally. This recognition reflects the university’s continuous pursuit of academic excellence, inclusive development, research progress, and administrative transparency.
The minister noted that the grading aligns with the spirit of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, reflecting the university’s strategies and implementation. The effective execution of the Bihar Agricultural Roadmap and the strong leadership of the state government played a vital role in this success. The university has restructured its curriculum to be multidisciplinary, skill-oriented, and innovation-driven, in line with the objectives of NEP 2020. The NAAC team highly praised the curriculum design and development, emphasizing outcome-based education, experiential learning, and industry-academic collaboration.
Students benefit from interdisciplinary and optional course choices, early participation in research, and credit transfer facilities, representing a commendable step towards NEP’s flexible, student-centered, and holistic development. The robust feedback system has also been a distinguishing feature of the university. Regular feedback from students, alumni, teachers, employers, and other stakeholders is collected and implemented in the teaching process and policy-making.
The Deputy Chief Minister congratulated the university family on this achievement and encouraged them to strive to take this new standard to new heights. He called upon everyone to collectively transform this honor into lasting success and make Bihar a leader in knowledge, science, and agricultural innovation.
