The Bihar cabinet has sanctioned the construction of two five-star hotels in Rajgir, Nalanda district, and a five-star resort in Vaishali district. This initiative, approved on Tuesday, will be executed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, aiming to provide improved and high-quality accommodation for tourists visiting these locations. The tourism department proposed the construction of two five-star hotels on a 10-acre plot near Mela Maidan in Rajgir. Additionally, a five-star resort will be developed on a 10-acre site at the recently inaugurated Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa in Vaishali. The projects will adhere to the Infrastructure Development Enabling (Amendment) Act, 2023, with land provided on lease to private developers responsible for the construction. The move is intended to enhance amenities and accommodation options, thereby boosting tourism and fostering economic and social activities, including job creation and trade opportunities. The cabinet’s decision extends beyond these tourism projects, encompassing several other significant approvals, including an increase in the State Teacher Award amount, fee reductions for competitive exams, and the approval of the 2026 holiday calendar.
