Chief Minister Nitish Kumar addressed a public dialogue, highlighting the significant improvements in Bihar’s electricity sector since 2005. He noted the initial challenges, including limited power availability in Patna, and the subsequent efforts to expand the energy budget and supply. Kumar emphasized the completion of the ‘Har Ghar Bijli’ scheme, ensuring electricity access to all households by October 2018, ahead of schedule. He also discussed the provision of affordable electricity, stating that a decision to provide 125 units of free electricity per month to all domestic consumers, starting from July, has been implemented. This initiative benefits approximately 1.89 crore households. The government is also promoting solar energy, with installations on all government buildings and plans to extend solar benefits to all interested domestic consumers. The dialogue saw participation from around 16 lakh people, with the Chief Minister acknowledging the work of the Energy Minister and the Energy Department.
