Bihar Crime: Police Half Encounter Two Accused in Gaya Killing

Police in Gaya district of Bihar have taken strong action in the case of the murder of a darogha's son, carrying out a 'half encounter' against two men accused of firing at the victims. The encounter was reported late on Thursday night.

The incident happened around 1 AM at Bichhi village under Gaya's Mufassil police station jurisdiction. Officers from a special team had gone to arrest the suspects, but they were met with gunfire.

Police and the STF returned fire, and both accused were shot in the legs. They have been identified as Shyam Bihari and Gaurav alias Kala. The operation, named 'Operation Langda', was completed within 96 hours, according to police. Both men were linked to the Kala gang and are now receiving treatment at Magadh Medical College Hospital.

Background of the Killing

On October 19, the accused opened fire on the sons of darogha Sudhanshu Shekhar alias Pintu Singh. Ranu Singh (30) died at the scene, while his elder brother Monu Singh (32) was critically injured and is currently under treatment in a Patna hospital.

Preliminary investigation points to an old dispute or a gambling-related matter. According to police, the brothers were called to a deserted location and ambushed.

Weapons Seized, Arrests Made

Four weapons were recovered from two different locations. Police also learned that Gaurav alias Kala, believed to be the key conspirator, was attempting to flee to Nepal when he was arrested from Madhubani.

Since the attack, Gaya police and STF teams had been conducting raids to trace the accused. SP City said four people have been arrested so far. Shyam Bihari, the main accused, already faces four cases, including under the Arms Act, while police are compiling records of the cases against Gaurav.
