Political parties are gearing up for the Bihar Assembly elections, strategizing from seat sharing to booth-level management. Sources indicate that the NDA has nearly completed its homework on ticket distribution. The alliance has conducted surveys on caste equations in each constituency to determine the candidates. The focus will be on balancing caste demographics to ensure the nomination of suitable candidates. The current plan is to stick with the ‘sitting getting’ formula, with potential ticket cuts for some incumbent MLAs based on surveys and performance. Discussions on seat allocation will continue in Bihar before final talks in Delhi.
Meanwhile, Chirag Paswan, the leader of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and a Union Minister, has announced his candidacy in the upcoming elections. He stated he would contest from a seat chosen by the people, ending weeks of speculation about his return to state politics. Paswan clarified that his decision to run is not driven by ambitions to become Chief Minister, but to improve his party’s strike rate and assist the NDA. He aims to ensure a decisive victory for the NDA in the Assembly elections. Paswan’s announcement is perceived as a move to gain political leverage for his party during seat-sharing negotiations with the larger partners, BJP and JD(U).
