In a move aimed at bolstering its support base, the Bihar government, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has unveiled a series of significant decisions. The state cabinet approved the ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Mandap Yojana,’ which will see the construction of marriage halls in every panchayat for economically weaker sections, with an allocated budget of ₹40 billion 26 crore 50 lakh. Furthermore, the ‘Didi Ki Rasoi’ initiative, supported by Jeevika, will now offer meals at ₹20 per plate, subsidized by the government. The loan limit for Jeevika’s business activities is also being increased. A major announcement involves a substantial increase in social security pension, raising the monthly amount from ₹400 to ₹1,100 for widows, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities. This revised pension will be implemented starting July and will benefit over 1 crore beneficiaries. Additionally, the government has approved an increase in the scheme amount for Gram Panchayats and approved constructing 4,079 roads across 38 districts.
